The AORTIC 2019 Scientific Programme Committee invites you to contribute to the programme by submitting an abstract for an oral or poster presentation. This international conference on cancer in Africa is an excellent opportunity to present and discuss your research in a multidisciplinary forum of cancer experts.
The Call for Abstracts will open on 29 January 2019 and close on 31 March 2019. Information on the Call for Abstracts will be made available closer to the time in English, French, and Portuguese.
An accepted abstract will be presented as an oral or as a poster. Oral abstracts will be grouped by topic and presented in the Best Abstracts sessions. Authors will have eight minutes for presentation followed by two minutes for discussion. Authors chosen for a poster session will be given two days to display their poster, with a dedicated poster session.
While effort will be made to accommodate authors’ preferences in presentation format (oral or poster), the final decision will rest with the Scientific Programme Committee.
All accepted abstracts, whether for oral or poster presentation, will be published in the electronic conference proceedings.
Authors of accepted abstracts must register for the conference by 30 June 2019 or they will forfeit their place in the programme.
The African Organisation for Research and Training in Cancer is pleased to offer a limited number of bursaries for its AORTIC 2019 conference.
Applications will open on 29 January 2019. Applications must be submitted by 31 March 2019 and will be assessed by the AORTIC 2019 Bursary Committee.
Bursaries to attend the conference will take the form of discounted or waived registration fees and no cash will be disbursed. Travel and accommodation expenses (e.g. flights, accommodation, meals outside of the conference, visas, travel insurance, inoculations, etc.) remain the responsibility of the bursary recipient.
The amount of financial support that can be awarded is dependent upon the success of the conference fundraising efforts. Applicants are welcome and encouraged to apply for funding from other institutions, but please note that applicants are only eligible for one AORTIC bursary related to conference attendance, whether support is directly from the conference or from another of AORTIC’s programmes such as ACLI.
Preference will be given to:
The bursaries are intended to support individuals who would not otherwise be able to meet the registration fee required to attend the conference.
The award of a bursary will be conditional upon the recipient:
Attending the full conference and participating in the programme (session facilitator, invited speaker, or presenting an oral or poster abstract)
Applicants will need to complete an application form which will be made available here when the submission system opens in January 2019.
On the form you will need to give a 300-word motivation. This motivation should give a detailed explanation of (1) why you wish to attend AORTIC 2019, (2) the contribution that you believe your attendance will make to the conference and to your affiliated institution, and (3) why you require financial assistance to attend the conference.
The closing date for applications is 31 March 2019.
The AORTIC Bursary Committee will review the applications and determine the successful recipients. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application by email in June 2019. If you have not received notification by 30 June 2019, please contact the Conference Organiser at info@2019.aorticconference.org.
