Fatima Cardoso

Fatima Cardoso, MD, is the Director of the Breast Unit at Champalimaud Clinical Center in Lisbon, Portugal. Dr Cardoso earned her medical degree at the University of Porto, Portugal; has done fellowships at Jules Bordet Institute (IJB), Brussels and MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston; served 10 years as Assistant Professor at IJB; and was scientific director of TRANSBIG (EU Framework VI). Currently Dr Cardoso serves on the ESMO Board of Directors and the ESMO Guidelines Steering Committee; is Past-Chair of the EORTC-Breast Group; is the ESO Breast Cancer Program Coordinator; is Chair of the ESO-ESMO Advanced Breast Cancer International Consensus Guidelines (ABC); is Chair of the ABC Global Alliance; and is a member of the ASCO Breast Cancer Guidelines Committee. Her research interests include biology of breast cancer, prognostic and predictive markers, and new anticancer agents.
